NASA’s Communications Services Project (CSP) has just released their final Announcement for Proposals (AFP) for commercial SATCOM to develop and demonstrate capabilities to deliver data in near real-time from spacecraft to user. This AFP opens the door for industry to showcase capabilities to provide end-to-end services to meet the needs of both NASA and private sector customers. As NASA engages with the commercial SATCOM sector this will usher in a new era for space missions to deliver data continuously through commercial SATCOM networks in various orbits. A generic approach for an operational service through a SATCOM service provider is shown below.
